The Raku Tatami Mat is designed for the Raku Tatami Platform Bed to provide a traditional Japanese surface for your shiki or futon mattress. These are the same Tatami mats as the Kaiteki Floor Mats except they are sized to fit standard Western mattress footprints.

The Raku Tatami Mat is a Japanese Grass Straw Tatami mat upon which you rest your futon or Shiki. Tatami mats have been used for centuries in Japan as a floor covering or bed surface. 

Our Tatami mats have been designed and manufactured for modern use and are constructed of 4 layers of natural grass straw, topped with a high-grade, tightly woven rush straw, sewn to the base layers. The Tatami mats can serve as a replacement for box springs or foundations to provide even support for your thinner and more malleable futons or shiki mats. Additionally, their construction allows air to percolate up through the mats, into the mattress, and throughout the sleeping environment reducing molds and allergens and keeping the sleeping area fresh and healthy. The Tatami's covering of soft, woven rush straw cures over time to a golden hue. Thus, your mat will be a shade of green similar to the one seen in the main product image above upon arrival but will become more of a beige/gold hue as it ages. You may experience a light, pleasant, natural aroma as the Tatami cures.

When matched with a Raku Platform bed and/or Organic Shiki Sleeping mat (sold separately), one can create a comfortable, toxin-free sleeping environment.

Airflow Improved My Sleep.

I'm a hot sleeper, so i converted from a mattress on my platform bed to a Tatami Mat and a soft sleeping mat, and i feel like this improved airflow has also improved my sleep. From the description, I was also expecting a strong grass scent, but the slight natural grass scent was barely noticeable and nice out of the box, but it went away.after a day or two as the tatami mat adjusted to my room's humidity,.

Shipping

Furniture over $199 Ships for Free in the Continental (Lower 48) United States of America. We do charge for shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, US Territories, and International Shipments, which is quoted on an order-by-order basis. Most furniture ships freight, which is delivered curbside to your driveway. If you need assistance getting the item into your house, carrying furniture up a flight of stairs, or more hands-on services, like assembly or white glove services, we can assist with finding the right upgrades at the right prices. Returns and Cancellations

Most of our customers love our products at first sight, but if you change your mind or don’t like a product, we can cancel most orders up to the point they ship. Products in new, unopened, resalable condition can also be sent back in original packaging materials, but the customer is responsible for the return shipping/freight charges, per our Return Policy. Lastly, Custom Made and Made-to-Order items must be cancelled within 72 hours or are charged in full to start the production, at which point, they can’t be cancelled or returned. Warranties

Our catalog of furniture items is high quality and made to last. All furniture items are sold with a 1-year manufacturer’s warranty against defects in craftsmanship or functionality per our Return Policy. For your convenience, if a situation does occur regarding warranty or shipping issues, Haiku Designs will file and coordinate all claims and warranty replacements. Beyond that, it is our desire to have happy customers and earn your business anytime you have home furnishing needs.
