Raku Tatami High Rise Bed

We are happy to our bed so far, the tatami mats were unexpectedly heavy though. We hope for long life time expectancy for what purchased.

The bed frame arrived in 2 different shipments, a few days apart. It was packaged really well. We don't see any scratches or damage at all. The natural color looks great and love the "chunkiness" of the legs and frame. Very well made, sturdy, and simple to put together. Our "plug" for the center piece cover matches perfectly. We are very happy with it!!

We just moved into a new place from a 200 sq ft room, and don't own any furniture! I wanted a high quality, solid wood bed frame and headboard that was built to last for a lifetime, but I didn't have a huge budget. A high quality frame: is made of solid wood (not MDF or manufactured/engineered wood); has a center rail that attaches to the bed frame at head and foot and has at least 1 support foot to prevent sagging (the King bed has 2 center feet); slats spaced less than 3" apart; and utilizes wood joinery techniques instead of screws at the corners and headboard.

The pros: This bed has almost every attribute seen in the highest quality bedframes (except slat thickness). It is a beautiful, solid wood piece that looks right at home in our Japandi / hygge inspired bedroom. The height is fantastic and close to a western style bed height with our 10" mattress, making getting in and out easy in the morning. Our robotic vacuum fits nicely underneath and has no trouble cleaning that space. The frame fits together smoothly and was easy to assemble by myself. This feels like a high quality piece and looks much more expensive than it was!

The con: In the best bedframes, the support slats are thicker (0.75" instead of the 0.5" provided here) and run the entire width of the bed. Our King size came with 2 sets of twin slats, one for each side of the bed, meeting at the center rail.

((As an aside, the "buttons" at the end of the bed should match the staining on the bed; mine originally didn't as shown in one of the photos, but customer service reached out and sent me replacements! Looks great!))

Overall, this piece is a phenomenal buy for the price point, and is 1/3 the price of comparable quality bed frames. Absolutely love it! This bed is sure to last us for many happy years. Five stars.

I just wanted to let you know that I received my Raku Tatami bed on Wednesday of this week. I also wanted to say that the call directly from Haiku to explain the process was quite unexpected. Your customer service should be applauded. I was also amazed at the EASE of assembly. I was excited to see the finished product so I put it together myself in about 20 minutes, most of which was spent unpacking the securely wrapped pieces. There was no damage to the product in shipping. This is the first time I have ever placed an order for a piece of furniture online. Having done so I would recommend Haiku to anyone wishing to purchase fashionable and unique furniture items of GREAT quality. Thanks again.
