I added the cover, too.

I added the cover, too. Just to keep it clean, plus the cover is washable. The mat is well made and supportive.

Much support

It helps a lot for my backpain. My wife also sleep well with the new mat

Heavier than Wool Cotton

Wanted more support, so upgraded from the Wool and Cotton Shiki to the Latex and Wool. It works great, but much heavier!

Supportive but not as cool

The Latex Shikifuton is not as cool as the Wool/Cotton. Too bad, because I need the support. Looking for an additional temperature regulation layer that doesn't offset the support.

Upgraded from Memory Foam

We were sleeping on a memory foam mattress and wanted a healthier option with no gasses and chemicals. Switched to this one for latex support. A little difficult transition to the shiki mat for a week or 2, but we love it now.

Mattress Topper & Shikibuton Care Sheet:

Toppers and Shikibutons will compress about 10-15% during the first 3 to 6 months of use. This occurs when the crimp in the wool or cotton fibers begin to decrease and moisture begins to build up. Repeatedly sleeping in the same spot on a new topper or shikibuton will create a very noticeable depression or dip. The proper care will help prevent your topper or shikibuton from dipping & sagging. These Five steps below will ensure that your new topper or shikibuton will wear evenly and last for years to come.

  1. Rotate - Be sure to rotate your Topper or Shikibuton every week by flipping it on the reverse side. Do not sit or sleep on the same side of the topper or shikibuton.
  2. Circulate - Shikibutons should be placed on cocopads or tatami mats so they can breathe properly. This can also prevent them from getting flat over time.
  3. Protector - Protect your Topper or Shikibuton from stains and dirt by using a removable futon cover or a mattress pad.
  4. Sun - Toppers & Shikibutons need to be placed in the Sun twice a year to remove moisture.
  5. Airing - Toppers & Shikibutons need the proper airflow to keep their optimal softness and last for years to come.

These easy steps will help you maintain and care for your Mattress & Futon Mattress which will allow them to last for years to come!

GOTS: Global Organic Textile Standard Certification

Global Organic Textile Standard: GOTS is recognised as the world's leading processing standard for textiles made from organic fibres. It defines high-level environmental criteria along the entire organic textiles supply chain and requires compliance with social criteria as well.

Made with All-Natural Wool

Our natural wool vendors have conditions in which sheep are raised humanely with plenty of room to graze and enjoy the sunshine in a mulesing free environment. The sheep are treated respectfully and do not get harmed to produce the wool for our bedding.

GOLS Global Organic Latex Standards Certification

Global Organic Latex Standards: The GOLS standard addresses criteria for natural rubber from certified organic plantations (USDA NOP or EU) that is processed at manufacturing units. To achieve GOLS certification, a product must contain more than 95% of certified organic raw material. Rubber plantations as well as processing units up to the final retailer are certified according to the standard. By using transaction certificates at every sale of a product in the supply chain, traceability from the plantation to the final retailer is ensured.
