Sattva Meditation Chair

I placed a large order with Haiku Designs to create a Meditation Room. After many months of complications and communications, I still have a damaged Sattva Chair. I requested this be remedied... a replacement chair or a lowered price for the "As is chair" was/is warranted. Quality control is the problem. The first chair was an entirely different model of chair, the second and third arrived having been beat up and damaged en-route. The heavy chair is shipped in a basic cardboard box without padding so is easily damaged. The fourth had a big visible gouge out of a leg unrelated to shipping. Each of these deliveries required repackaging and transporting the heavy chair to return and months of having my meditation space occupied by large boxes while Haiku had slow responses and difficulty obtaining shipping labels?

If you are looking to purchase a "Sustainable Product" this is not it based on the lack of care and diligence in quality control and consequent shipping footprint alone but additionally it has plastic screw covers (if you receive the hardware, I didn't for chair #2), Polyester cushion covers made in China, and the items I received appeared to be damaged returns... Ie residue from former stickers and liquid spills, holes in the pillows etc.

I purchased with the intention of avoiding Amazon and Big Box retail. I thought I was ordering from a sustainable small business, but I should have looked into it further before I was stuck in this long term difficult process. I discovered even the rug I ordered from Haiku is for sale at a significantly lower price at Walmart. And sadly it is a Walmart "Fall-a-part" Rug. I had thrown the cardboard roll it was shipped on away before I discovered the Rag Rug was mechanically cut rather than torn and as a result it is still shedding bits of fiber. It was too hard to return and I accepted this loss and will replace... I don't like leaving this review, but I wish I had been warned. I put alot of effort into cooperating thru all these difficulties and returns to see this thru, and yet was still left with a damaged chair? I did not get the value I paid for. Based on what I experienced, you might as well go to Walmart or order from Amazon, but better yet, choose a local sustainable company. Lessons learned.

I love the detail and it is quality wood. Not too low to the ground for me and I like having the back support. I did find it a bit difficult to assemble and I'm not sure that the arms are really needed. I am still giving it 5 stars because of its beauty and the craftsmanship and because customer service was absolutely AMAZING in addressing my needs. Will definitely keep Haiku Designs in mind for the future.

I like to meditate for hours every day but I have chronic low back pain which sometimes prevents me from meditating properly. This chair is perfect for my back! It is so comfortable, the back pillow is firm and sits right at the small of my back so I am sitting perfectly upright but supported and relaxed. And the seat is sloped just enough to keep the hips and knees comfortable. I have been using it every day for a month and I have no complaints. I wish I had found this chair years ago!
