At Haiku Designs, we take immense pride in partnering with brands that embody the values we hold dear—quality, sustainability, and thoughtful design. Today, we’re thrilled to put the spotlight on Saloom Furniture, a family-owned business that has been crafting stunning, eco-friendly furniture for over three decades.
The Heart of Saloom: A Family Legacy
Saloom Furniture began as a passion project for Peter F. Saloom and his wife, Linda, nestled in the hardwood forests of central Massachusetts. Over the years, their son, Peter B. Saloom, joined the family business, bringing his own vision and leadership. Together, the Salooms have built more than just a company—they’ve created a community of skilled artisans, innovative designers, and furniture lovers.

As Peter B. Saloom puts it, “A family business is always personal.” Their commitment to preserving relationships, fostering creativity, and maintaining uncompromising quality makes Saloom Furniture a standout in the world of American-made furniture.
A Commitment to Sustainability
Saloom Furniture’s dedication to sustainability is woven into every piece they create. By using responsibly sourced materials, low-VOC finishes, and renewable resources, they minimize their environmental impact while ensuring the longevity of their products. Their eco-conscious approach resonates deeply with our mission at Haiku Designs to offer products that are as kind to the Earth as they are beautiful.

The Salooms also take pride in preserving local manufacturing traditions. Once a thriving hub for furniture production, their hometown of Gardner, Massachusetts, now relies on Saloom Furniture as one of its largest employers. By keeping their manufacturing process local and sustainable, they honor a legacy of craftsmanship that dates back over 150 years.
Craftsmanship That Sets Them Apart
At Saloom Furniture, quality isn’t just a priority—it’s the foundation of everything they do. Their innovative techniques, like full envelope finishing on tabletops, ensure durability and beauty. By applying a coat of sealer and conversion varnish to both the top and bottom of each table, Saloom achieves a finish that’s not only silky-smooth but also moisture-resistant and built to last.

Their attention to detail doesn’t stop there. Saloom audits film thickness on both sides of the table, ensuring an even, luxurious finish. This kind of meticulous craftsmanship is why customers can’t resist running their hands across a Saloom table—it feels as good as it looks.
