The Shambho Pillow grants you the best of both worlds. With an innovative dual chamber design, the Shambho Pillow provides the unique benefits of a hull pillow with the conventional comfort of a wool pillow. The ideal solution for back and side sleepers looking for 4-6" in pillow height, the Shambho offers exceptional and customizable comfort. The Pillow's unique design allows for easy access to pillow contents through side zippers so that you may take out and reinsert wool or hull fill at your discretion.

Renowned for their supportive properties, hull-fill pillows conform to your body effortlessly and organically. Exquisitely textured, Buckwheat and Millet hulls trap a lot of air that is then pushed through the pillow and circulated when you move in your sleep. This specific quality makes the hull-filled pillows exceptional options for people who perspire in their sleep, as the airflow helps to keep the pillow cool and dry. This temperate pillow, with a hull-filled core, is perfect for year-round use.

The sobakawa (buckwheat hull) pillow holds a special place in Japanese culture and history, embodying the traditional Japanese values of simplicity, natural living, and attention to health and well-being. Long before sustainability became a global concern, the Japanese were using sobakawa pillows as an example of eco-friendly living. The use of buckwheat hulls reflects the Japanese philosophy of mottainai, a sense of regret concerning waste, highlighting the importance of utilizing all parts of a harvested crop.

The main difference between the Buckwheat and Millet hulls is the size and overall texture. Buckwheat hulls are larger and rustle about when you move in your sleep. Millet hulls are tiny, velvety, and make no noise when moved. Both hulls provide exceptional, temperate support; however, Buckwheat Hulls ventilate more easily due to their size.

Surrounding the hull-filled chamber is a luxurious layer of natural wool. Wool is an incredible fiber with an abundance of natural benefits. Wool is naturally flame resistant meaning the fiber requires NO chemical treatments. Additionally, wool naturally regulates both temperature and moisture keeping you cool and dry while you sleep.

The Shambho Pillow, with its unique combination of Hulls and Wool, elegantly cradles your neck and head helping you to sleep undisturbed and awake rested. With the dual chamber design, you get a generous foundation of moldable hulls to keep your head elevated and your neck aligned and a soft layer of wool batting on top to cushion your face and ear. Together these two fillings help you establish and maintain comfortable spinal alignment all night long.

Love this pillow!

When I got this pillow, I initially didn't like it, it was kind of too firm and uncomfortable. I poured off about 1/4 of the millet hulls, and it got better, but wasn't quite right. Poured off a bit more, and now it's PERFECT! I also have a buckwheat hull pillow (not this one, but bought it at Haiku Designs, too) and those hulls are bigger and cooler, but they're noisy. The organic millet hulls are really small, quiet and soft, and then the organic wool on top is soft. I fall asleep like a rock! Anyway, I was skeptical at first, but now I'm a big fan!
